Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 1 cup warm water (110°F / 45°C)
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup shredded Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (or 1 tsp dried)
  • 1 ½ cups canned crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • ½ tsp sugar
  • Salt & pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let sit 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Stir in flour, olive oil, and salt. Knead for 5–7 minutes until smooth.
  3. Place in an oiled bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour, or until doubled.
  4. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
  5. Roll dough into a rectangle (about 9×13 inches). Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  6. Mix melted butter and minced garlic, then brush evenly over dough.
  7. Sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan cheese generously over the top.
  8. Bake for 12–15 minutes, until golden and bubbly.
  9. Remove and sprinkle with parsley. Slice into breadsticks.
  10. In a saucepan, heat olive oil and sauté garlic until fragrant.
  11. Add crushed tomatoes, Italian seasoning, sugar, salt, and pepper.
  12. Simmer for 10 minutes until slightly thickened.
  13. Serve warm alongside cheesy breadsticks.

Notes

  • For a spicier dip, add red pepper flakes to the marinara sauce.
  • Store leftover breadsticks in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
