Description

Chocolate-Covered Orange Jellies are a delightful treat combining the tangy flavor of orange jellies with rich dark chocolate, perfect for a sweet indulgence.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 250 ml (1 cup) freshly squeezed orange juice (strained)
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 200 g (1 cup) granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp honey or corn syrup
  • 1 tbsp orange zest (optional, for extra flavor)
  • 3 tbsp powdered gelatin (or agar-agar for a vegetarian option)
  • 60 ml (¼ cup) cold water (for blooming gelatin)
  • 250 g (9 oz) dark chocolate (70% cocoa recommended)
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil or cocoa butter (for shine)
  • Optional Garnish: Flaky sea salt or candied orange peel

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, sprinkle gelatin over 60 ml cold water. Let it bloom for 5 minutes.
  2. In a saucepan, combine orange juice, lemon juice, sugar, honey, and zest.
  3. Heat gently until sugar dissolves, then bring to a light simmer.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in bloomed gelatin until fully dissolved.
  5. Pour mixture into a parchment-lined 20×20 cm (8×8 in) pan or silicone mold.
  6. Refrigerate for 4 hours or until firm.
  7. Cut into squares or use a small cutter for neat shapes.
  8. Melt chocolate and coconut oil together in a heatproof bowl over simmering water (or microwave in intervals).
  9. Using a fork, dip each jelly square into melted chocolate, letting excess drip off.
  10. Place on parchment paper and let set.
  11. Before chocolate fully sets, sprinkle lightly with flaky sea salt or top with a small strip of candied orange peel.
  12. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.

Notes

  • For a vegetarian option, use agar-agar instead of gelatin.
  • Ensure the chocolate is melted gently to avoid burning.
  • These jellies can be customized with different citrus flavors.
