Description

Delicious chocolate-dipped marble cookies that combine the richness of chocolate with a classic vanilla flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 250 g (2 sticks + 2 tbsp) unsalted butter, softened
  • 150 g (¾ cup) granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 320 g (2 ½ cups) all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 150 g (5 oz) dark or semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
  • 1 tsp coconut oil or butter (for shine)
  • Optional: chocolate sprinkles or sea salt flakes

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar together until light and fluffy (about 2 minutes).
  2. Add the egg and vanilla extract, and mix until smooth.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture. Mix until a soft dough forms.
  5. Split the dough in half. Leave one half plain (vanilla). To the other half, add the cocoa powder and mix until evenly combined.
  6. Take small pieces of each dough and lightly knead them together — just enough to create a marbled pattern (don’t overmix).
  7. Roll into 1-inch (2.5 cm) balls and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Slightly flatten the tops with your fingers.
  8. Preheat the oven to 175°C (350°F). Bake the cookies for 10–12 minutes, until the edges are set but the centers are still soft. Cool completely on a wire rack.
  9. Melt chocolate and coconut oil together in a heatproof bowl over simmering water (or microwave in 20-second bursts). Dip or drizzle chocolate over half of each cookie.
  10. Add sprinkles or sea salt while still wet, then let the chocolate set at room temperature or in the fridge for 15 minutes.

Notes

  • Ensure the butter is softened for easier mixing.
  • Do not overmix the dough to maintain the marbled effect.
  • Store cookies in an airtight container to keep them fresh.
