Layers of chocolate Swiss roll slices, silky chocolate pudding, and fluffy whipped cream come together in this decadent trifle. It’s a show-stopping dessert that’s as simple to make as it is delicious — perfect for holidays, parties, or any time you want to impress with minimal effort.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 large chocolate Swiss rolls (store-bought or homemade)
- 2 cups (480 ml) cold milk
- 1 box (100 g) instant chocolate pudding mix
- 1 ½ cups (360 ml) heavy whipping cream
- 2 tbsp powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ¼ cup (50 g) chocolate shavings or curls (for garnish)
- Optional: chocolate ganache drizzle or cherry filling between layers
Instructions
- In a large bowl, whisk together instant pudding mix and cold milk for about 2 minutes until thickened. Refrigerate for 10–15 minutes to set.
- In a chilled bowl, whip heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until soft peaks form. Reserve a portion for topping.
- Slice Swiss rolls into ½-inch (1 cm) thick pieces. Arrange slices along the bottom and sides of your trifle dish. Spread a layer of chocolate pudding over the Swiss rolls. Add a layer of whipped cream. Repeat layers until the bowl is full, ending with whipped cream on top.
- Sprinkle with chocolate shavings or curls. Optionally drizzle with ganache or top with cherries for a Black Forest twist.
Notes
- For a homemade chocolate Swiss roll, bake at 375°F (190°C) for 10–12 minutes, roll while warm, and let cool before slicing.
- Feel free to customize the layers with your favorite toppings or fillings.
