Description

Delicious and fun Cookie Monster Cinnamon Rolls that are perfect for any occasion!


Ingredients

Scale
  • 240 ml (1 cup) warm milk
  • 2 ¼ tsp (1 packet) active dry yeast
  • 50 g (¼ cup) sugar
  • 75 g (⅓ cup) unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 500 g (4 cups) all-purpose flour
  • ½ tsp salt
  • Blue gel food coloring (to get Cookie Monster blue)
  • 100 g (½ cup) brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 75 g (⅓ cup) butter, softened
  • 120 g (4 oz) cream cheese, softened
  • 60 g (4 tbsp) butter, softened
  • 200 g (1 ½ cups) powdered sugar
  • 23 tbsp milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Crushed chocolate sandwich cookies (Oreos)
  • Extra mini cookies or cookie halves

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix warm milk, yeast, and sugar. Let sit 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add butter, eggs, and blue food coloring. Mix well.
  3. Add flour and salt, knead until smooth and elastic (about 8 minutes).
  4. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise 1–2 hours until doubled.
  5. Mix brown sugar and cinnamon in a bowl.
  6. Roll out dough into a rectangle (about 14×18 inches).
  7. Spread softened butter over dough.
  8. Sprinkle cinnamon sugar evenly on top.
  9. Roll dough tightly into a log.
  10. Cut into 12 even rolls.
  11. Place rolls in a greased baking dish.
  12. Cover and let rise again for 30–40 minutes.
  13. Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F).
  14. Bake rolls for 22–25 minutes, until golden but still soft.
  15. Cool slightly before glazing.
  16. Beat cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk until smooth.
  17. Drizzle glaze generously over warm rolls.
  18. Sprinkle with crushed Oreos and top with cookie pieces for the full Cookie Monster effect.

Notes

  • Ensure the milk is warm, not hot, to activate the yeast.
  • For a more intense blue color, add more blue gel food coloring as desired.
  • These rolls are best served warm and fresh.
