A rich and creamy mushroom dip that’s perfect for parties or as a cozy snack.
Ingredients

- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 small onion, finely diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 450 g (1 lb) mushrooms, sliced (button, cremini, or mixed)
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp thyme (dried or fresh)
- 225 g (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
- ½ cup sour cream
- ½ cup mayonnaise
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tbsp fresh chives, chopped (plus more for garnish)
- Baguette slices or crackers, for serving
Instructions
- Heat butter and olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add onions and sauté 3–4 minutes until softened.
- Stir in garlic and mushrooms, season with salt, pepper, and thyme.
- Cook until mushrooms release their juices and begin to caramelize (about 8–10 minutes).
- Lower the heat and stir in cream cheese until melted and creamy.
- Mix in sour cream and mayonnaise until smooth.
- Add half the mozzarella and Parmesan, stirring until combined.
- Preheat oven broiler.
- Sprinkle remaining mozzarella and Parmesan on top of the dip.
- Place skillet under broiler for 2–3 minutes until bubbly and golden.
- Garnish with fresh chives.
- Serve hot with toasted baguette slices, pita chips, or crackers.
Notes
- For a spicier kick, add red pepper flakes to the mushroom mixture.
- Can be made ahead and reheated before serving.
- Experiment with different types of cheese for varied flavors.
