Description

A rich and creamy mushroom dip that’s perfect for parties or as a cozy snack.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 450 g (1 lb) mushrooms, sliced (button, cremini, or mixed)
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp thyme (dried or fresh)
  • 225 g (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tbsp fresh chives, chopped (plus more for garnish)
  • Baguette slices or crackers, for serving

Instructions

  1. Heat butter and olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add onions and sauté 3–4 minutes until softened.
  3. Stir in garlic and mushrooms, season with salt, pepper, and thyme.
  4. Cook until mushrooms release their juices and begin to caramelize (about 8–10 minutes).
  5. Lower the heat and stir in cream cheese until melted and creamy.
  6. Mix in sour cream and mayonnaise until smooth.
  7. Add half the mozzarella and Parmesan, stirring until combined.
  8. Preheat oven broiler.
  9. Sprinkle remaining mozzarella and Parmesan on top of the dip.
  10. Place skillet under broiler for 2–3 minutes until bubbly and golden.
  11. Garnish with fresh chives.
  12. Serve hot with toasted baguette slices, pita chips, or crackers.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, add red pepper flakes to the mushroom mixture.
  • Can be made ahead and reheated before serving.
