Description

Golden and crunchy on the outside, juicy and tender on the inside — these crispy fried chicken drumsticks are perfectly seasoned and fried to perfection.


Ingredients

  • 8 chicken drumsticks
  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup cornstarch
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • Vegetable oil (enough for deep frying)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine buttermilk, salt, pepper, paprika, and garlic powder. Add drumsticks, cover, and marinate at least 2 hours (overnight for best flavor).
  2. In another bowl, whisk flour, cornstarch, and spices. Remove chicken from marinade (shake off excess), dredge in flour mixture, dip back into buttermilk, then coat again in flour for extra crunch.
  3. Heat oil in a deep skillet or fryer to 350°F (175°C). Fry drumsticks in batches for 12–14 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown and internal temp reaches 165°F (74°C). Drain on paper towels or a wire rack.
  4. Sprinkle with fresh rosemary or parsley (optional). Enjoy hot with dipping sauces or sides.
