Description

Crispy Golden Onion Rings: Perfect Every Time!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large onions (yellow or white, cut into ½-inch thick rings)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup cold sparkling water (or club soda)
  • 2 cups panko breadcrumbs
  • Oil for frying
  • Ketchup, spicy mayo, or ranch dip (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Slice onions into rings and separate layers.
  2. Soak in cold water for 10 minutes (helps with crispiness), then pat dry.
  3. In a bowl, whisk flour, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  4. Slowly whisk in sparkling water until smooth (batter should be slightly thick).
  5. Dip onion rings into batter, letting excess drip off.
  6. Roll in panko breadcrumbs for extra crunch.
  7. Heat oil in a deep pot to 180°C (350°F).
  8. Fry onion rings in small batches for 2–3 minutes, until golden and crisp.
  9. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  10. Sprinkle lightly with salt and serve hot with ketchup or your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add cayenne pepper to the batter.
  • Ensure the oil is hot enough before frying to achieve maximum crispiness.
  • Experiment with different dipping sauces for variety.
