Description
Crispy Shrimp Cakes are delicious patties made with fresh shrimp, garlic, and herbs, perfect for a tasty appetizer or main dish.
Ingredients

- 1 lb (450 g) raw shrimp, peeled & deveined
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 egg
- 2 tbsp mayonnaise
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- ½ tsp sesame oil (optional)
- ½ cup panko breadcrumbs (plus extra for coating)
- 2 tbsp chopped cilantro or parsley
- Salt & pepper, to taste
- Oil, for frying
Instructions
- Roughly chop half the shrimp into chunks.
- Process the other half in a food processor until a paste forms.
- Mix both together to give texture and binding.
- Add garlic, onion, egg, mayonnaise, soy sauce, sesame oil, breadcrumbs, and herbs.
- Mix until combined and holds shape.
- Scoop about 2 tbsp mixture per cake and shape into patties.
- Coat lightly with extra panko for extra crunch.
- Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat.
- Fry shrimp cakes for 3–4 minutes per side until crispy and cooked through.
- Drain on paper towels.
- Garnish with parsley and serve hot with sweet chili dipping sauce.
Notes
- For a spicier kick, add chopped jalapeños to the mixture.
- These cakes can be made ahead of time and frozen before frying.
- Serve with a side salad for a complete meal.
