Description

A delightful and easy-to-make Neapolitan sheet cake featuring layers of vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry flavors, perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 250 g (2 cups) all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 200 g (1 cup) granulated sugar
  • 120 g (½ cup) unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 180 ml (¾ cup) milk
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder (for chocolate swirl)
  • 150 g (5 oz) cream cheese, softened
  • 100 g (½ cup) unsalted butter, softened
  • 300 g (2 ½ cups) powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder (for chocolate portion)
  • Red or pink food coloring (for strawberry portion)
  • 100 g (1 cup) fresh strawberries, diced (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F). Grease and line a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  2. In a bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, then vanilla.
  5. Mix in dry ingredients alternately with milk until smooth.
  6. Divide batter: leave ⅔ plain (vanilla) and mix ⅓ with cocoa powder.
  7. Spread vanilla batter into the prepared pan.
  8. Spoon chocolate batter in dollops, then swirl lightly with a knife.
  9. Bake 25–30 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean.
  10. Cool completely.
  11. Beat cream cheese and butter until smooth.
  12. Add powdered sugar and vanilla. Mix until fluffy.
  13. Divide frosting into 3 bowls: leave one plain (vanilla), add cocoa powder to one for chocolate, and tint one with food coloring for strawberry.
  14. Spread or swirl the three frostings across the cooled cake in sections.
  15. Add fresh strawberries on top for garnish.
