Description

Delicious Greek Chicken Meatballs served with refreshing Tzatziki sauce and warm pita bread.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground chicken (or turkey)
  • 1 small onion (grated or finely minced)
  • 2 garlic cloves (minced)
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley (chopped)
  • 2 tbsp fresh dill (chopped)
  • 1 tbsp fresh mint (optional)
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • Salt & black pepper, to taste
  • 2 tbsp olive oil (for pan-frying or baking)
  • 1 cup Greek yogurt
  • ½ cucumber (grated and squeezed dry)
  • 2 garlic cloves (minced)
  • 1 tbsp fresh dill (chopped)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • Salt & pepper, to taste
  • Warm pita bread (cut into wedges)
  • Fresh cucumber slices
  • Cherry tomatoes
  • Extra dill for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine ground chicken, onion, garlic, breadcrumbs, egg, herbs, spices, salt, and pepper.
  2. Mix until well combined. Shape into small meatballs.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook meatballs 8–10 minutes, turning to brown all sides, until golden and cooked through. (Alternatively, bake at 400°F / 200°C for 18–20 minutes.)
  4. Mix Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, garlic, dill, olive oil, lemon juice, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
  5. Chill until ready to serve.
  6. Arrange meatballs on a plate with cucumber slices, cherry tomatoes, and pita wedges.
  7. Place tzatziki in a bowl in the center, drizzle with olive oil.
  8. Garnish with fresh dill.
  9. Dip meatballs into tzatziki or wrap in pita with veggies for a Greek-style sandwich.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, add red pepper flakes to the meatball mixture.
  • Make the tzatziki sauce a few hours in advance for better flavor.
  • Leftover meatballs can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
