Description

A spooktacular layered dessert featuring chocolate cake, pumpkin spice pudding, whipped cream, and plenty of chopped Halloween candies. Perfect for parties and trick-or-treat night!


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box chocolate cake mix (plus ingredients listed on box)
  • 2 boxes (3.4 oz each) instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 3 cups cold milk
  • 1 cup canned pumpkin puree
  • 2 tsp pumpkin pie spice
  • ½ cup powdered sugar (for pudding layer)
  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • ½ cup powdered sugar (for cream layer)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 23 cups chopped Halloween candies (Reese’s, KitKat, Snickers, Twix, etc.)

Instructions

  1. Prepare chocolate cake according to package or recipe instructions. Allow to cool completely, then cut into cubes.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk pudding mixes with milk until thickened. Stir in pumpkin puree, pumpkin spice, and powdered sugar until smooth.
  3. In a chilled bowl, whip heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla until stiff peaks form.
  4. In a large glass trifle bowl, layer as follows: Chocolate cake cubes, pumpkin pudding, whipped cream, chopped candies. Repeat layers until bowl is full, finishing with whipped cream and candies on top.
  5. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving to allow flavors to meld. Garnish with extra candy and a sprinkle of cocoa or cinnamon.
