Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb (450g) ground beef
- 1 small onion, finely diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 3 cups fresh or frozen green beans (or 2 cans, drained)
- 1 can (10.5 oz / 300g) cream of mushroom soup
- ½ cup sour cream
- ½ cup milk
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp onion powder
- ½ tsp black pepper
- Salt to taste
- 1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 ½ cups crispy fried onions (store-bought French fried onions)
Instructions
- In a large skillet, brown ground beef and diced onion over medium heat. Drain excess fat. Add garlic and cook 1 more minute. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- If using fresh or frozen green beans, boil for 5–6 minutes until just tender. If using canned, skip boiling.
- In a bowl, whisk together cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, milk, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). In a baking dish, layer seasoned ground beef, green beans, and creamy sauce spread evenly. Sprinkle cheddar cheese over the top.
- Bake for 20 minutes, until hot and bubbly.
- Remove from oven and top generously with fried onions. Return to oven for 5–7 minutes, until crispy and golden.
Notes
- For a healthier option, you can use lean ground beef or ground turkey.
