Ingredients

  • 1 angel food cake (store-bought or homemade), cut into cubes
  • 1 can (21 oz) cherry pie filling
  • 1 box (3.4 oz) instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 1 ½ cups milk
  • 1 cup sour cream (or plain Greek yogurt)
  • 1 tub (8 oz) whipped topping (Cool Whip or homemade whipped cream)
  • ¼ cup sliced almonds, toasted (for garnish)
  • Extra maraschino cherries, for topping

Instructions

  1. Cut angel food cake into bite-sized cubes.
  2. Place half of the cake cubes in the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish (or trifle dish).
  3. In a mixing bowl, whisk pudding mix with milk until thickened.
  4. Fold in sour cream until smooth and creamy.
  5. Spread half of the pudding mixture over the cake cubes.
  6. Spoon half of the cherry pie filling over the top.
  7. Repeat layers with remaining cake, pudding, and cherries.
  8. Spread whipped topping evenly over the top layer.
  9. Garnish with sliced almonds and maraschino cherries.
  10. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours (or overnight) so flavors meld.
  11. Cut into squares or scoop to serve.
