Description

Jamaican Banana Fritters are a delicious and sweet treat made from ripe bananas, flour, and spices, perfect for breakfast or dessert.


Ingredients

  • 3 ripe bananas (overripe works best)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup sugar (adjust to taste)
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ¼ cup milk (optional, for smoother batter)
  • Oil for frying
  • Powdered sugar & honey/maple syrup (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Mash bananas until smooth, leaving a few small chunks for texture if desired.
  2. Add sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, and salt to the mashed bananas and mix well.
  3. Stir in flour and baking powder. Add milk if the batter is too thick — it should be thick but spoonable.
  4. Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  5. Drop spoonfuls of batter into the hot oil, flattening slightly.
  6. Fry for 2–3 minutes per side, until golden brown.
  7. Remove fritters and drain on paper towels.
  8. Dust with powdered sugar and drizzle with honey or syrup before serving warm.
