Description

Louisiana Voodoo Fries are a delicious and bold dish featuring crispy fries topped with a creamy Cajun cheese sauce, crispy bacon bits, and fresh green onions.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 bag (1 lb / 450 g) frozen French fries (or homemade)
  • Oil, for frying (or bake/air fry option)
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups whole milk (warm)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup Monterey Jack cheese
  • 2 tbsp cream cheese
  • 1 tsp Cajun seasoning (add more for extra heat)
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp smoked paprika
  • Pinch of cayenne (optional)
  • Salt & black pepper, to taste
  • ½ cup crispy bacon bits
  • ¼ cup green onions, chopped
  • Extra Cajun seasoning (to sprinkle on top)

Instructions

  1. Deep fry, bake, or air fry fries until golden and crispy. Keep warm.
  2. In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat.
  3. Whisk in flour to make a roux, cooking 1–2 minutes.
  4. Slowly add warm milk while whisking until smooth.
  5. Reduce heat, stir in cheddar, Monterey Jack, and cream cheese until melted.
  6. Season with Cajun seasoning, garlic powder, paprika, cayenne, salt, and pepper.
  7. Place fries on a serving platter.
  8. Pour warm Cajun cheese sauce generously over fries.
  9. Top with crispy bacon bits and chopped green onions.
  10. Serve immediately with extra Cajun seasoning sprinkled on top for that Louisiana kick.

Notes

  • For a vegetarian option, omit the bacon bits.
  • Adjust the level of Cajun seasoning to suit your heat preference.
  • These fries are best served hot and fresh.
