- 1 large round sourdough loaf (or boule)
- 2 tbsp butter (melted)
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp smoked paprika
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- ½ cup cream cheese (softened)
- ½ cup sour cream
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ½ lb ground beef
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp chili powder
- ½ tsp cumin
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- Salt & pepper, to taste
- 2 tbsp red onion, diced
- 2 tbsp chives, chopped
- Extra sour cream for topping
- 2 tbsp warmed whiskey or vodka (for safe flambé effect)
Instructions
- Prepare the Bread Bowl: Cut the top off the sourdough loaf and hollow out the center, leaving 1–2 inches of crust around the edges. Brush the inside with melted butter, garlic powder, and smoked paprika. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 10 minutes to crisp up.
- Make the Cheese Lava: In a saucepan, combine mozzarella, cheddar, cream cheese, and sour cream. Heat on low, stirring until melted and smooth. Season with black pepper.
- Cook the Beef Topping: Heat olive oil in a skillet. Add ground beef and season with chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Cook until browned and slightly crispy.
- Assemble the Magma Bowl: Pour molten cheese mixture into the baked bread bowl. Top with seasoned beef. Garnish with diced onions, chives, and a dollop of sour cream.
