Delicious McGriddle Muffins that combine the flavors of breakfast sausage, cheddar cheese, and maple syrup in a fluffy muffin base.
Ingredients

- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ¼ tsp baking soda
- ¼ tsp salt
- 1 large egg
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- 2 tbsp maple syrup
- ½ lb breakfast sausage, cooked and crumbled
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- Optional: drizzle of maple syrup before serving
Instructions
- In a skillet, cook breakfast sausage until browned and crumbly. Drain excess fat and set aside.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, whisk egg, buttermilk, melted butter, and maple syrup.
- Pour wet ingredients into dry and mix until just combined (don’t overmix).
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a muffin tin.
- Fill each muffin cup halfway with batter. Sprinkle in cooked sausage and a little cheese.
- Add more batter to cover, then top with extra sausage and cheese.
- Bake for 18–22 minutes, until muffins are golden and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Let cool slightly, then serve warm. Optional: drizzle with maple syrup for extra sweetness.
Notes
- Ensure not to overmix the batter for a fluffy texture.
- Feel free to customize the filling with other ingredients like bacon or different cheeses.
- These muffins can be stored in an airtight container for a few days.
