Description

Delicious McGriddle Muffins that combine the flavors of breakfast sausage, cheddar cheese, and maple syrup in a fluffy muffin base.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp baking soda
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup
  • ½ lb breakfast sausage, cooked and crumbled
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • Optional: drizzle of maple syrup before serving

Instructions

  1. In a skillet, cook breakfast sausage until browned and crumbly. Drain excess fat and set aside.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, whisk egg, buttermilk, melted butter, and maple syrup.
  4. Pour wet ingredients into dry and mix until just combined (don’t overmix).
  5. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a muffin tin.
  6. Fill each muffin cup halfway with batter. Sprinkle in cooked sausage and a little cheese.
  7. Add more batter to cover, then top with extra sausage and cheese.
  8. Bake for 18–22 minutes, until muffins are golden and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  9. Let cool slightly, then serve warm. Optional: drizzle with maple syrup for extra sweetness.

  • Ensure not to overmix the batter for a fluffy texture.
  • Feel free to customize the filling with other ingredients like bacon or different cheeses.
