Instructions
- Preheat oven to 325°F (165°C). Grease and flour a bundt pan or tube pan.
- In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Add dry ingredients to wet mixture alternately with milk.
- Stir in vanilla extract and mashed bananas.
- Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 70–80 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Cool completely before frosting.
- Beat cream cheese and butter until smooth.
- Add powdered sugar gradually, mixing well.
- Add heavy cream and vanilla extract, beating until fluffy.
- Frost cooled pound cake generously with cream cheese frosting.
- Garnish with banana slices, crushed vanilla wafers, and whole wafers around the edges.
