Description

Delicious meatballs stuffed with gooey mozzarella cheese, perfect for a hearty meal or as appetizers.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef (or beef/pork mix)
  • ½ cup fine breadcrumbs
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (or 1 tsp dried)
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 810 mozzarella cheese cubes (about ¾-inch each)
  • 1 cup marinara sauce (optional, for serving)
  • ½ cup shredded mozzarella (for topping)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, garlic, parsley, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until combined (do not overmix, or meatballs may be tough).
  2. Divide mixture into 8–10 equal portions. Flatten each portion in your palm, place a cube of mozzarella in the center, and wrap the meat mixture around it. Roll into a ball, ensuring cheese is fully sealed inside.
  3. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Place meatballs in a greased or parchment-lined baking dish. Bake for 18–20 minutes, until browned and cooked through.
  4. Remove from oven, spoon a little marinara sauce over each (if using), and sprinkle shredded mozzarella on top. Return to oven for 5 minutes, until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  5. Garnish with fresh parsley. Serve hot with pasta, bread, or on their own as appetizers.

Notes

  • For a spicier version, add red pepper flakes to the meat mixture.
  • These meatballs can be frozen before baking for later use.
  • Experiment with different cheeses for stuffing, such as cheddar or provolone.
