Description
Delicious meatballs stuffed with gooey mozzarella cheese, perfect for a hearty meal or as appetizers.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb (450 g) ground beef (or beef/pork mix)
- ½ cup fine breadcrumbs
- ¼ cup milk
- 1 egg
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (or 1 tsp dried)
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 8–10 mozzarella cheese cubes (about ¾-inch each)
- 1 cup marinara sauce (optional, for serving)
- ½ cup shredded mozzarella (for topping)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, garlic, parsley, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until combined (do not overmix, or meatballs may be tough).
- Divide mixture into 8–10 equal portions. Flatten each portion in your palm, place a cube of mozzarella in the center, and wrap the meat mixture around it. Roll into a ball, ensuring cheese is fully sealed inside.
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Place meatballs in a greased or parchment-lined baking dish. Bake for 18–20 minutes, until browned and cooked through.
- Remove from oven, spoon a little marinara sauce over each (if using), and sprinkle shredded mozzarella on top. Return to oven for 5 minutes, until cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Garnish with fresh parsley. Serve hot with pasta, bread, or on their own as appetizers.
Notes
- For a spicier version, add red pepper flakes to the meat mixture.
- These meatballs can be frozen before baking for later use.
- Experiment with different cheeses for stuffing, such as cheddar or provolone.
