- 2 Tbsp red food coloring
- 1 tsp vanilla extract

- 16 oz cream cheese (softened)
- 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
- 4 cups powdered sugar (sifted)
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 12 Oreo cookies (crushed into fine crumbs)
- 6–8 Oreo cookies (halved) for decoration
- Red velvet cake crumbs (from trimmed edges)
- Whipped cream swirls (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, beat sugar and oil until combined. Add eggs one at a time, then vanilla and vinegar.
- Mix in red food coloring.
- Alternate adding dry ingredients and buttermilk until smooth.
- Divide batter evenly between pans and bake for 25–30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let cool completely, then level cakes if needed (save scraps for crumbs).
- Beat cream cheese and butter until creamy.
- Gradually add powdered sugar and beat until fluffy.
- Stir in vanilla extract and crushed Oreos.
- Place one cake layer on a plate. Spread a thick layer of Oreo frosting on top.
- Add a handful of chopped Oreo pieces for crunch.
- Place the second cake layer on top and frost the entire cake.
- Press red velvet crumbs around the sides of the cake.
- Pipe swirls of frosting on top and garnish with halved Oreos.
- Sprinkle extra cake crumbs for a dramatic look.
