Description
Delicious and crispy Spicy Shrimp Patties, perfect for a flavorful appetizer or main dish.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb (450 g) raw shrimp, peeled & deveined
- ½ cup breadcrumbs (panko preferred for crispiness)
- 1 egg, lightly beaten
- 2 tbsp mayonnaise
- 2 green onions, finely chopped
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley or cilantro, chopped
- 1 small red chili or ½ tsp chili flakes (adjust to spice level)
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- ½ tsp cayenne pepper (optional, for extra heat)
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 2 tbsp lime juice
- 3 tbsp vegetable oil (for pan-frying)
Instructions
- Roughly chop half of the shrimp into small chunks.
- Finely mince or pulse the other half in a food processor to create a paste (this helps bind the patties).
- In a bowl, combine shrimp paste, chopped shrimp, breadcrumbs, egg, mayo, green onions, parsley, chili, garlic, paprika, cayenne, salt, pepper, and lime juice.
- Mix until well combined. The mixture should be slightly sticky but able to hold shape.
- Divide mixture into 6–8 portions.
- Shape into patties, about ½–¾ inch thick.
- Chill in the fridge for 20–30 minutes to firm up (optional but recommended).
- Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat.
- Cook patties 3–4 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through.
- Drain on paper towels.
- Garnish with herbs and serve with a squeeze of lemon or lime.
Notes
- Great with spicy aioli, garlic mayo, or sweet chili sauce for dipping.
- Adjust the spice level by varying the amount of chili or cayenne pepper.
- Chilling the patties before cooking helps them hold their shape better.
