Description
A delicious and easy recipe for Sweet Baby Ray’s Slow Cooker BBQ Chicken, perfect for a family meal or gathering.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (or thighs for extra tenderness)
- 1 ½ cups Sweet Baby Ray’s BBQ sauce (or your favorite brand)
- ¼ cup honey (for added sweetness)
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp onion powder
- Salt & pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Prepare the Sauce: In a bowl, whisk together the BBQ sauce, honey, brown sugar, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Taste and adjust for sweetness or spice.
- Assemble in the Slow Cooker: Lightly grease the inside of your slow cooker. Place the chicken breasts inside and pour the sauce over them, making sure they’re well coated. Cover and cook: Low for 5–6 hours or High for 2½–3 hours.
- Finish the Chicken: Once cooked, remove the chicken and shred it with two forks, or leave whole if you prefer. Stir the sauce to thicken slightly (you can simmer it on the stove for 5 minutes if desired). Return shredded chicken to the sauce and mix well.
- Serve: Serve hot with mashed potatoes, rice, coleslaw, or on toasted brioche buns for pulled BBQ chicken sandwiches.
Notes
- For extra tenderness, use chicken thighs instead of breasts.
- Adjust the sweetness of the sauce by adding more or less honey and brown sugar.
- This dish pairs well with various sides like coleslaw or rice.
