Create fun and delicious Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Candy Apples for a themed party or treat!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 medium green apples (Granny Smith or similar)
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • ½ cup light corn syrup
  • ¾ cup water
  • ½ tsp cream of tartar
  • Green gel food coloring
  • Wooden sticks or skewers
  • Colored fondant (blue, red, orange, purple)
  • Edible food markers or black/white fondant for eyes
  • Edible glue or corn syrup

Instructions

  1. Wash apples thoroughly to remove any wax coating. Dry completely.
  2. Insert wooden sticks into the tops and place apples on a parchment-lined tray.
  3. In a heavy saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, water, and cream of tartar.
  4. Heat over medium-high, stirring until sugar dissolves.
  5. Once boiling, stop stirring and cook until the mixture reaches 300°F (hard crack stage).
  6. Remove from heat, stir in green food coloring.
  7. Working quickly, tilt the pan and dip each apple, swirling to coat evenly in green candy.
  8. Place on parchment to set.
  9. Roll out colored fondant into thin strips (blue for Leonardo, red for Raphael, orange for Michelangelo, purple for Donatello).
  10. Wrap each strip around the top of a cooled candy apple, pressing gently to stick.
  11. Use small circles of white fondant for eyes.
  12. Draw pupils with an edible food marker or use tiny dots of black fondant.
  13. Secure with edible glue.
  14. Allow decorations to set.
  15. Arrange on a tray for a fun Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle party display!

Notes

  • Ensure apples are completely dry before dipping.
  • Work quickly with the candy coating as it hardens fast.
  • Use different colors of fondant to represent each turtle.
