- 1 sheet puff pastry (store-bought, thawed)
- 1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)
- Powdered sugar (for dusting)
- 2 cups (480 ml) milk
- ½ cup (100 g) sugar
- 3 tbsp cornstarch
- 3 egg yolks
- 1 tsp vanilla extract (or vanilla bean paste)
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- ½ cup (120 ml) heavy cream (whipped, folded in for extra lightness)
- Sweetened whipped cream (piped)
- Extra powdered sugar
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Cut puff pastry into strips (~1 inch wide).
- Wrap each strip around metal cream horn molds (or improvise with foil-wrapped cones).
- Brush with egg wash.
- Bake 15–18 minutes until golden and puffed. Cool completely before filling.
- In a saucepan, whisk milk, sugar, cornstarch, and egg yolks.
- Cook over medium heat, whisking constantly until thickened.
- Remove from heat, stir in butter and vanilla.
- Let cool completely, then fold in whipped cream for a light, mousse-like texture.
- Transfer cream to a piping bag.
- Pipe into cooled puff pastry shells until full.
- Dust with powdered sugar.
- Pipe whipped cream swirls on top for garnish.

- For best results, chill the filled pastry rolls before serving.
