Description

These enchanting Halloween candy apples are transformed into bubbling witch cauldrons with a glossy green candy coating and a mix of creepy-cute toppings like gummy worms, eyeballs, and candy corn. Perfect for Halloween parties, dessert tables, or spooky trick-or-treat fun!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 medium apples (Granny Smith, Fuji, or Honeycrisp)
  • 6 wooden sticks or skewers
  • 2 cups (400 g) granulated sugar
  • ½ cup (120 ml) light corn syrup
  • ¾ cup (180 ml) water
  • ½ tsp green gel food coloring (neon or lime works best)
  • Black round silicone molds or cauldron-shaped cups (optional, for effect)
  • Assorted Halloween candies: Gummy worms, Candy eyeballs, Candy corn, Sour belts or mini gumdrops, Jelly beans
  • Optional: edible glitter or green shimmer dust for an eerie glow

Instructions

  1. Wash apples thoroughly and remove the wax coating by dipping briefly in boiling water. Dry completely and insert wooden sticks into the tops. Set aside on a parchment-lined tray.
  2. In a saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, and water. Stir until sugar dissolves, then stop stirring and let it boil over medium heat until the mixture reaches 300°F (150°C) on a candy thermometer (hard crack stage). Remove from heat and quickly stir in green gel coloring until evenly tinted.
  3. Working quickly, dip each apple into the hot candy mixture, coating it evenly. Let excess drip off, then place the apple into a black silicone cauldron mold or cup to set. While still tacky, top with Halloween candies (worms, eyeballs, etc.) to create a “bubbling potion” look. Allow to cool completely at room temperature until firm.
  4. Brush the green candy drip with edible shimmer dust or a light mist of green luster spray for a magical sheen. Serve the apples upright with skewers, or display them in black cauldrons for an enchanting centerpiece.

Notes

  • Ensure apples are completely dry before dipping to achieve a smooth coating.
  • Use a candy thermometer for accurate temperature measurement.
  • Experiment with different toppings for a personalized touch.
