Description

A delicious Caramel Swirl Dulce de Leche Cake that combines rich flavors and a beautiful presentation, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 200 g (1 ½ cups) all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 120 g (½ cup) unsalted butter, softened
  • 200 g (1 cup) granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 120 ml (½ cup) whole milk
  • 100 g (½ cup) dulce de leche (for swirling into batter)
  • 200 g (7 oz) cream cheese, softened
  • 100 g (½ cup) unsalted butter, softened
  • 200 g (1 ½ cups) powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 150 g (½ cup) dulce de leche (warmed for drizzling)
  • 12 tbsp milk or cream (to thin, if needed)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F). Grease and line a round cake pan (8–9 inches).
  2. In a bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream butter and sugar until fluffy.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, then vanilla.
  5. Mix in dry ingredients alternately with milk.
  6. Pour half the batter into the pan, add spoonfuls of dulce de leche, swirl lightly, then add remaining batter.
  7. Bake 30–35 minutes, until golden and a toothpick comes out clean. Cool completely.
  8. Beat cream cheese and butter until smooth.
  9. Add powdered sugar and vanilla, mix until fluffy.
  10. Spread evenly over cooled cake.
  11. Warm dulce de leche slightly until pourable.
  12. Drizzle in thin lines over the cream layer.
  13. Use a toothpick to drag through the lines, creating a spiderweb or swirl pattern.
  14. Chill cake for 30 minutes to set the topping.
  15. Slice and serve with extra caramel drizzle if desired.

Notes

  • Ensure the cake is completely cooled before adding the cream topping.
  • For a richer flavor, use homemade dulce de leche.
  • Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
